Now I see

I've always struggled with what it means to partner with God and fulfill my destiny. It's always been a paradox for me; the chasm that exists between what God has planned and who I want to become. What He has planned often seems so undesirable and distant. What I want has always seemed so near and desirable but empty. Last night I finally saw a glimpse of what it meant to partner with God.

J told me that I would one day make a great pastor and it's one of those things that just brings you back to life. Right in the middle of the madness (final exam and assignment and the next two papers), it reminded me of why I have to work so hard. And then I realized that's what it meant to partner with God in his great work. He gives you the tools but expects you to work your ass off. I can see the road ahead and the joy and glory that comes from helping people understand again his great and good news but I also see an unending and exhausting work. And I see that it's all worth it in the end.

On a final remark, I was talking with my co-workers about religion and saw how they conformed to the stereotype of finding the old testament backwards and savage. After Provan, I love the God of the Old Testament.
