I have to say, I'm irritated by God in a fond way sometimes. It's like when you feel your lowest, he comes along with something that cheers you up. Just when I've decided to pack it in and call it a day and wallow in my misery, he comes by with something stupid that you can't ignore.
Like the post before...when I felt miserable and complained that there was no sun and I hated the rain, it was sunny the next day. And just this sunday I led worship and I will confess here if anywhere that I thought it was a failure. I had picked songs earlier but it just wasn't working. They felt all wrong, like they didn't really flow or sing about what God wanted me to sing about. And after days of mulling over and letting down the team with a failure of a practice, I finally remembered to pray and ask what songs God would like to hear because I had hit rock bottom. I was dry of ideas.
Then like a difficult birth, the songs came and they flowed so well with the idea i had before of preparing for Advent
1. As the deer
2. How great is our God
3. How great thou art
4. Refiner's fire
5. This is my father's world
Then my musical skills let me down as did my linguistic skills. The only thing I thought went well during the time of worship was the prayer which was one of those moments when you feel that the holy spirit prays through you and the words just fall into place so well.
Other than that, I thought it was a bust. To tell you the truth, i've been meaning to throw in the towel for worship because I feel that it is a gift or an area of service that I feel the Lord has taken away from me.
And then two people say that they really enjoyed the time of worship and they were really moved by it.
I mean come on God. Just when I am at my low and want to stay there and die, you send someone to encourage me. When I don't want you there you come. But i guess i am glad because you do come when i need it the most (and always without me knowing or wanting).
Good one my strange, mysterious and wise friend
