Last year I hated on missions trips. This year I want to go on one. Pst. Seetoh has told me to pray about the location so I thought I'd write down some of the ideas or thoughts I had on what I want to do/go.
1) I don't specifically want to evangelize. Don't get me wrong about the gospel. I've just seen too much of it spread without the other things that Jesus brought. So I don't mind just building wells, laughing with kids, or just anything that they put me up to.
2) I want to see and partner with God in bringing his Kingdom in a part of the world that defies all the ideas that Western Christianity sets up.
3) I want to see the world. St.Augustine said that the world is a book and those who haven't traveled have read only one page.
4) I want to encounter people that I would not normally meet. I want to learn what it means to love them and be loved.
Where do I want to go?
I think India because of the oldness of the country. Also I would love to see and experience a pluralistic society in which every evangelizing tool must be reexamined. I guess I want to smash my ideologies and put them to the test in a different part of the world.
