Happy Mother's Day.
I sit here at what seems to be the culmination of my life. All of my life built up for this one moment. Fears and lies grip my life but that is not why I write. I write to express my gratefulness. My gratitude for you, my mother.
As time passes and wounds heal, I wouldn't have been who I am today if it weren't for you all those years. 23 years and a few months to be exact of patience, compassion, care and love. I had nothing to do with my birth. Your pain, your labour brought me into this world. Your suffering was exchanged for my life.
And now I sit here, 20 hours away from my dream and 2 odd years away from my ghostly destiny. But where would I be if you did not lay the foundation?
It's curious how much I rebelled against you. How much I sought to be free of your control.
Thank you very much for having gone before.
Now I know that it is my turn to fight the good fight for those who are to come.
"All this time, since the day that I was born
I've never known a time like this, I don't want to let you down"
