Homosexuals

i love them.

or so i would like it to be. but T asked me what i thought about homosexuals and you know "our views" on them. you must know by now that i am terrible when it comes to taking a stance. i usually don't because i don't agree with either side. they say you can't sit on the fence but it is better than the alternative, being on either side and having an arguement with your brothers and sisters about who is right. so this is where this analogy comes from. i want to explain my view in a way that i understand. this also comes about because i read something that shocked me and i had to come to terms with. it was a section about how the old and new testament clearly condemn homosexuality but you know how we say christianity is one of the most tolerant religions in the world. so this is my marriage between tolerance and homosexuality.

when i think about homosexuals, i have no problem with them being involved in homosexual activities if they are not christians. you know, coitus and the whole shebang. since they have nothing to do with jesus, why should they need to obey the laws we obey? they shouldn't. rather they should live according to their own beliefs; be that being the best they can or partying hard.

homosexual christians are where we start to have fun. this is where, i believe, things can become fairly hazy and difficult for any christian. i say this because we are to love them because they are our brothers and sisters. we are a family and any family who has a member "come out of the closet" will tell you that nothing has changed in their relationship with each other. Usually the family is the most supportive of that particular member. however, the troubles arise because we have rules in this family that we are to ascribe to. We cannot tolerate many behaviors because of who our father is and who we are becoming. this is one of those instances in which the bible is perfectly clear on what it does not tolerate. there are no interpretations needed for us to know what is right and what is wrong here.

i know this. but it's hard isn't it. it's hard to be able to accept a fellow christian yet not at the same time but i believe this is blown out of proportion. i say i believe but i have yet to accomplish this so bear with me.

homosexually oriented christians are the same as any christian. they have been saved from sin but they are being deliever from the power of sin daily. Now here is the analogy. We can compare homosexual christians with christians that struggle with lust and pornography. i use this because i am a male and this is one of the major struggles with any male christian. i do not know about women.

There are thousands upon thousands of books written on struggling with and battling this temptation of lust. i have read "every young man's battle" and was reading "not even a hint" to name a few. And there are even websites in which men can keep one another accountable and pray for each other. But even with all these resources, this is a struggle men do not openly talk about. It's hard and very difficult. And what makes it so difficult is that it is one of those things feels so built in and so innate. A women is a beautiful being. The most attractive in the world and i'm sure most of my brothers reading this know what i mean. You've all seen it i'm sure, when men turn and look at an attractive lady. It's hard to not look and we don't know why but we are looking forward to that hope that the holy spirit is changing us from the inside out. to correct our view on our sexuality and what not.

so this is where they homosexuals come in. they are just like us christian men. their struggle is of the flesh and it's difficult because it feels like it's "natural". so instead of saying that they refuse to change and that they are screwed and never going to get into heaven, lets treat them like we would each other. encourage them to pray for strength and depend on the holy spirit to change. i know i know, some of them may never change their sexual orientation to be heterosexual but do they sin if they are just attracted to their same gender? i don't think so. if they aren't ever involved in a relationship with another same sex individual or coitus then they probably haven't sinned. i mean it's the same as men. we are attracted to an attractive female. have we sinned? by all means no. But if we take her as our own and do things that are meant to be saved for the marriage bed then we have defiled it.

so that is my analogy for you T. it is probably one of the most difficult things to overcome because we have been told that it is built in so only by the continual work of the Holy Spirit can we be free from these lies.
i hope that in this light that it will be easier to embrace our fellow brothers and sisters.
i especially hope for myself.

oh and happy baptism T

Brave Daniel, Bravo! I think one of the hardest things I had to overcome as part of my Christian walk is becoming the moral police of the world. We are so quick to condemn those don't believe in saying they are wrong morally with out even realizing the fact that those people who we condemn don't even know the morals and teachings the bible tells us. Hence how can we view them with the same lens? We look at the teachings of the new testament, Jesus talks to people that already know God, the religious leaders and teachers who study the law and condemns them because they know the law and yet not follow it. In the same way, Paul writes to the churches that are Christians and have been taught the values and morals of being a Christian. Paul isn't writing to non-Christians and pointing fingers!
Jesus has saved me from being the moral police of the world.

oh...congrats again on your baptism T
